Read the integration guide

  1. Add your Linux server

    Enter its SSH host and username. Choose an SSH key, agent—including 1Password—or password.

  2. Choose what to share

    Enable Clipboard, Browser, or both in Integration. Newport installs and manages its remote agent. Only enable sharing on servers you trust.

  3. Open a fresh remote shell

    Restart your remote coding tool in the new shell. Keep Newport connected while using clipboard and browser sharing.

Before you connect

How do I connect?

Add your server’s SSH host and username, then choose a key file, SSH agent (including 1Password), or password. Most features need no remote installation. Clipboard and browser sharing use an agent managed by Newport.

How does clipboard sharing work?

Enable Clipboard in your server’s Integration settings. Your clipboard is shared from your computer to the server when a remote app requests it. Only enable sharing on servers you trust, and keep Newport running.Read the integration guide.

Where are my credentials stored?

Saved profiles and passwords are encrypted on your computer, with the vault key in macOS Keychain or Windows Credential Manager. Metric history is stored separately and is not encrypted.Read the security notes.

What SSH setups are supported?

Newport connects to Linux servers using your SSH account’s permissions. SSH configuration aliases, ProxyJump, host certificates, and interactive MFA are not currently supported.

Is Newport the same app as Porthop?

Yes. Newport is the new name for Porthop. Version 0.2.4 includes migration for saved servers, credentials, preferences, and integration setup. Keep your existing app data when upgrading.
